## Physician Assistant - Interventional RadiologyApply: On Campus/Onsite: Washington University Medical Campus: Full time: Posted Today: JR98027# **Location**SAINT LOUIS, MO 63110# **Scheduled Hours**40# **Position Summary**We are seeking an experienced Physician Assistant to join our Interventional Radiology team in St. Louis, MO at St. Louis Children's Hospital. This position is M-F days with no on call or weekends. The WashU Interventional Radiology team currently consists of 17 physicians and 10 Physician Assistants at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, Missouri Baptist Hospital, and Barnes-Jewish West County Hospital and St. Louis Children's Hospital. Once trained, this Physician Assistant will independently perform image-guided procedures, provide follow-up care and education, and occasionally cross cover other procedures as necessary. The role will provide direct and indirect patient care in procedural, inpatient, and outpatient settings across the continuum of Interventional Radiology care. Functions in collaboration with the health care team in accordance with certification and licensure. Provides healthcare services typically performed by a physician, under the supervision of a physician; conducts complete physicals, provides treatment, and counsels patients; may, in some instances, prescribe medication. New grads welcome to apply with experience from surgical rotations.# **Job Description****Primary Duties & Responsibilities:*** Performs physical assessments/examinations.* Assesses and counsels patients and obtains medical histories.* Monitors patient's adherence to protocols.* Coordinates screening for research studies.* Collects and records data per research requirements and guidelines.* Develops and implements adherence plans used with protocols.* Bills for professional services as permitted by the collaborative practice agreement.* Interprets diagnostic tests results for deviations from normal.* Prescribes therapy or medication with physician approval.* Administers or orders diagnostic tests, such as x-ray, electrocardiogram and laboratory test.* Performs therapeutic procedures, such as injections, immunizations, suturing and wound care and infection management.* Provides physicians with assistance during surgery or complicated medical procedures.* Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in service meetings and workshops.* Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objective, quality assurance programs, safety, environmental and infection control standards.**Working Conditions:**Job Location/Working Conditions* Normal office environment* Exposure to blood-borne pathogens* Requires protective devices* Patient care setting* Direct patient care settingPhysical Effort* Typically sitting at desk or table* Typically standing or walking* Typically bending, crouching, stooping* Occasional lifting (25 lbs or less)Equipment* Office equipment* Clinical/diagnostic equipmentThe above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work performed by people assigned to this classification.
