Bookkeeper / Staff Accountant

Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Bookkeeper / Staff Accountant to support the day-to-day accounting, payroll, and administrative operations of a growing manufacturing company in Pine Plains, NY. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented accounting professional who enjoys managing a variety of financial responsibilities while helping ensure the smooth operation of the business.
The successful candidate will play a key role in accounts payable, bookkeeping, payroll administration, financial reporting, benefits administration, and account reconciliations.

Bookkeeper Responsibilities:
•    Process invoices and maintain accurate accounts payable records
•    Review financial transactions and ensure data accuracy within accounting systems
•    Reconcile bank accounts, credit card accounts, and general ledger accounts
•    Process payments through checks, ACH, wire transfers, and other payment methods
•    Manage payroll processing and maintain payroll records
•    Prepare monthly commission reports and financial summaries
•    Post journal entries and support month-end and year-end accounting activities
•    Prepare and file sales tax returns
•    Assist with employee benefits administration, including healthcare and retirement programs
•    Support workers’ compensation reporting and claims administration
•    Generate financial reports and maintain organized accounting documentation
•    Collaborate with management to support accounting and operational objectives

Qualifications & Experience :
•    Associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field preferred
•    Minimum 4 years of bookkeeping or accounting experience
•    Strong proficiency with QuickBooks
•    Experience using Microsoft Excel for reporting and financial analysis
•    Experience with Paychex payroll systems preferred
•    Familiarity with Salesforce or CRM platforms is a plus
•    Strong understanding of accounts payable, account reconciliations, payroll, and bookkeeping principles
•    Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
•    Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
•    Strong communication and problem-solving abilities
